Parsing through the COC and the TSO season announcements
William Kentridge's Wozzeck finally lands
The COC’s 2024/25
As previously mentioned in this newsletter, La Reine-garçon is coming to Toronto for a remarkable (for a contemporary work) seven performance run. Really glad to be seeing Kirsten MacKinnon in the title role, a Vancouver-born soprano who performed quite a bit at the Frankfurt Opera and currently finds herself in Montreal for a Figaro. Philippe Sly and Owen McCausland are also good news and well known to Toronto audiences. Sly is in Paris next month for Ades’ Exterminating Angel and then to Vienna for a Barrie Kosky production of Figaro at the State Opera. McCausland is off to Australia with Robert Lepage’s still-touring Nightingale and Other Fables by Stravinsky.
