I miss the days when CBC was something I could rely on. I haven't listened to it in years. My favorite show, and one that I take inspiration from for my own podcast, was Ideas.
I think the last shows I gave up on were Tapestry and W&C... I can't remember if I tried the current Ideas, I must have. They look decent enough https://www.cbc.ca/radio/ideas though the shift happened I think towards life-style and interview and away from philo, socio, history and elite art and the documentary form.
I like Eleanor Wachtel's interview style. But even her show, which, I think, was more nuanced in the past, seems to be ideologically captured now. Or, maybe I'm just more sensitive to that stuff, nowadays. Alternative media now offers plenty of different perspectives, so maybe the CBC is just not as necessary anymore.
